Where bubble text works

Bubble letters come from two Unicode blocks, and both are drawn by about 43–47 font families on our test machine — far fewer than plain letters (184), but many more than cursive or bold (1). In practice they show up on current phones and computers, but an older device may still draw a box.

One quirk worth knowing: 🅰 🅱 🅾 🅿 and Ⓜ also exist as emoji (the blood-type and metro signs), so some phones draw them as coloured emoji buttons instead of plain black bubbles. If your word contains A, B, O, P or M in black bubbles, check how it looks on your own phone before you post it.

Why bubble letters sometimes show as boxes

A box means the device showing your text has no font with that character — your text is still correct. Bubble letters sit in the middle of the support range, so they fail less often than cursive or bold letters but more often than small caps.
