Privacy Policy
The NickFUN privacy policy explains what nickfun.com, the free fancy text and nickname generator run by The NickFUN Team, does with your data: there is no account, no advertising and no analytics, only the name sent to our name service when you press Generate, plus how to have anything removed.
Last updated: 30 September 2026. This policy describes what NickFUN actually does with data, checked against the running site rather than copied from a template. It is written by The NickFUN Team, who run this site. The same team is responsible for any data processed through this site. If you would rather know who you are dealing with before reading on, find out who runs NickFUN and how the team checks its pages.
The short version: there is no account, no sign-up and no advertising on this site, and we run no analytics of any kind. The one thing worth reading carefully is what happens when you press Generate.
What we do not do
Most privacy policies in this niche list things the site does not actually do. Here is the opposite — everything below was verified as absent from the pages served to you on 11 August 2026:
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager and no other measurement script on this site.
- No advertising and no ad cookies. We run no ad network, so there is nothing here building an advertising profile of you.
- No tracking pixels or social embeds. No Facebook pixel, no share widgets, no comment system. One third party does load on every page: the site uses Google Fonts, so your browser fetches font files from
fonts.googleapis.comand Google receives your IP address as part of that request. It sets no cookie and is not used to measure you, but it is a request to another company and you should know about it. - No account and no sign-up. Every tool works without registering. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth, and there is no login for visitors.
- No selling or renting of data. We do not sell, rent or trade anything about you, and we do not run affiliate tracking.
What happens when you press Generate
This is the part that involves a third party, so it is the part worth knowing. When you type a name and press Generate, two things happen.
- The name you typed is sent to our name service, together with your IP address. The service registers the name so that community nicknames can be attached to it, and returns any nicknames other visitors have shared for that name. It runs on a separate name service operated for this site by an external provider. If you type a real name, a nickname or anything else into that box, treat it as leaving your browser.
- A counter is updated on this site. We keep a weekly tally of which names people ask for, so we know what to build pages about. That table holds the name text, an optional context label, the week, and two counts. It has no IP column and no user column. Your IP address is used only inside a one-way hash that lets us tell a repeat request from a new one on the same day; the hash cannot be turned back into your address, and the address itself is not written to that table.
Nothing else you do on the site is recorded. Copying a result, opening a page or scrolling generates no record beyond the ordinary server logs described below.
Nicknames you submit
The generator has an Add your own idea box. Anything you submit there is intended to be published: it can appear on this site next to the name it belongs to, where any visitor can see and copy it. Do not put a real name, a contact detail or anything private into that box.
Submissions are not tied to an account, because there are no accounts. If something published here identifies you and you want it removed, email us with the page address and the exact text — see the contact page, where the removal process is set out. You do not have to explain why.
Hosting, security and cookies
- Cloudflare sits in front of this site as a content delivery network and security layer. It receives the IP address of every request in order to route it and to filter attacks, and it may set its own security cookies in your browser. Cloudflare also obfuscates email addresses on our pages to reduce spam, which is why an address here sometimes appears as a link rather than as plain text.
- Server and security logs. Our web server and the security plugins on this site record the usual request data — IP address, time, page requested, browser string — to block abuse and diagnose faults. These logs are not used to profile visitors and are not combined with anything else.
- Cookies from us: essentially none. Browsing this site as an ordinary visitor sets no cookie of ours. WordPress only sets cookies for someone logging in to administer the site, and comments are disabled site-wide. The cookies page covers this in more detail.
How long we keep things
- Name counters: kept as weekly aggregates for as long as they are useful for planning content. They contain no identifier for you.
- Submitted nicknames: kept until you or we remove them, because they are published content.
- The same-day request hash: short-lived, discarded automatically.
- Server and security logs: rotated on the host’s normal schedule and not archived by us.
Your rights
This site is available worldwide, so we apply the same rights to everyone rather than only to visitors from one region. If you are in the EU or UK, this covers the rights the GDPR gives you; if you are in California, it covers the rights the CCPA gives you.
- Access — ask what we hold that relates to you. In practice this is usually nothing, because we hold no account and no profile.
- Correction and deletion — ask us to fix or remove anything published here that relates to you. Submitted nicknames are removed on request.
- Objection — tell us you do not want a particular piece of processing to continue.
- No sale of personal information — there is nothing to opt out of, because we do not sell or share data for advertising.
Email [email protected] with Privacy in the subject line. We do not require you to prove your identity for a removal request about published text, because that would mean collecting more about you than we already hold.
Children
NickFUN is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because there is no account and we never ask for personal details, a child using the generator does not hand us a profile. If you believe a child has submitted something that identifies them, email us and we will remove it without asking for further detail.
Changes and contact
If what the site does changes — a new tool, a measurement script, anything that adds a third party — this page is updated first and the date at the top changes with it. We do not backdate it. Questions go to [email protected], and the contact page lists how to send a removal, copyright or privacy request. The terms of service cover what you may do with what the tools produce, and the disclaimer sets out the limits of generated results. The tools themselves live on the NickFUN home page.
