NickFUN runs three tools, and most people only need one of them. This guide shows what each one does, how the decoration options actually work, and where the results will and will not paste correctly. Everything below was checked against the live site on 11 August 2026 by The NickFUN Team.
Which tool you want
The three tools solve different problems, and picking the wrong one is the most common reason people leave disappointed.
- You want a decorated in-game name — frames, crowns, hearts, wings around your name. Use the generator on the NickFUN home page, or the dedicated nickname generator with special characters.
- You want your letters restyled — bold, italic, script, small caps for a bio or caption. That is font conversion, not decoration: use the fancy text generator.
- You just want symbols to copy — stars, hearts, brackets, kaomoji. Every generation shows a symbol strip you can tap; there is more on that below.
Decorating a name, step by step
The generator sits directly under the heading on every tool page, so you can type before you scroll.
- Type your name in the box. The field takes up to 30 characters. Accented Vietnamese, Devanagari, Arabic and Thai all work — the tool does not force you into unaccented Latin.
- Optionally pick a group. The row of chips — All, Shuffle, Recommended, For boys, For girls, All styles — decides which result groups you get back.
- Optionally pick decorations. The three dropdowns are separate on purpose: the first and last hold the frame characters that sit on each side of your name, while the middle one replaces the spaces inside a multi-word name. Leaving all three on “—” is fine, and it is what most people actually want.
- Press Generate, then tap any result to copy it. One tap puts the exact characters on your clipboard. Nothing is retyped or simplified along the way, so what you paste is what you saw.
The five result groups
A full generation returns five groups, each built a different way. Knowing which is which saves you scrolling past the ones you do not need.
| Group | What it does |
|---|---|
| Shuffle | Mixes several styles inside one name, so different letters come from different alphabets. Run it twice and you get different results — it is random by design. |
| Recommended | A short set of frames that tend to work well on most names. |
| For boys / For girls | The same machinery with different frame characters — sharper marks in one, softer ones in the other. Nothing stops you using either. |
| All styles | Your name run through every style the site has, currently 30 of them, one result per style. This is the group to scan if you want to compare. |
The symbol strip
Under the results you get a strip of 30 characters and combos to copy on their own — a mix of symbols, decorated fragments and kaomoji such as (ง ˃ ³ ˂)ว. The set is ranked per name rather than fixed, so a different name gives you a different strip. Use them to build a name by hand when none of the generated results is quite right: copy a frame, paste it either side of your name, and you have a variant the generator did not produce.
One honest warning about the fancier combos. A character only draws if the device showing it has a font covering that range. If a combo looks like an empty rectangle in your browser, the character is intact — your device simply cannot draw it. The same string often renders perfectly inside TikTok or Instagram on a phone. If a name has to look right everywhere, stay with the plainer symbols.
Adding your own idea
Under the results there is an Add your own idea box. A nickname submitted there can then show up alongside that name for the next person who searches it, in the Nicknames shared by other players block. It is a young site, so most names have an empty list right now — if you built something good, you are probably the first.
Where the results work
This is where most guides quietly mislead people, so here is the short version.
- Display names and bios: yes. A TikTok display name, an Instagram name field or bio, captions and posts all accept Unicode styling and symbols.
- @username handles: no. TikTok and Instagram usernames accept letters, numbers, underscores and full stops only. No generator can change that, and any site promising a styled handle is describing something the platform does not allow.
- Game name fields: partly. Many games run your input through normalisation before storing it, which strips most fancy fonts back to plain letters. Simple symbols usually pass; colour emoji usually do not. For Free Fire specifically, NickFUN is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Garena — test a name in-game before you spend anything on a rename.
The fancy text generator page carries the measured version of this: which styles survive normalisation, and what each one costs against a character limit. The frequently asked questions cover the rest.
